I made a new wallhanging!

Hi there, I have been busy sewing this week. I just made this wallhanging:

I didn't like the blocks, but when I put this together I fell in love with it! It has sure been great learning this method of quilting! You don't have any large blob of a quilt in your machine by doing this as you go.

I plan to do another one of these and post it in a day or so. I am still working on my quilt design. I am so excited about learning to do quilt as you go or qayg as it is called on the quilting board. I'm going to start on my Boomerang Seven quilt this week also. My theme in Boom Seven was Cats and it is going to be really cute!

I need to get back to work now. More later.

Pattern #10 The Chicken

I just love my chicken.  I pieced an entire quilt of orange chickens and hope to have it quilted soon.  I have always had a thing about chickens, birds and cows.  Anything that reminds me of a farm.  I hope you enjoy this pattern and I will have more for you next week.

Cowboy Boot.  Hope you like it:

Here is the block I made from last week's Millie the Angel:

She is from last week's pattern.  I didn't get a chance to work on her until today.

I am posting sideways so I can get the best shot.  Wish I could adjust it in this post.  Til next week, have a good one!

Here I am with the pattern for Monday, can you believe I'm actually early with it?!  I can't believe it, but I can't be late unless I can't help it!

Her name is Millie the Angel, hope you will like her:

I will be late with my pattern so I will get back with that on Tuesday.

Late posting photo of last week's Tulips

I did forget to post the block I made from the Tulip's pattern last week:

I like this block, I found the fabric I meant to use on the flower pot today.  I am going to redo the block with this fabric, will post tomorrow when I finish it.

Thursday Nite before the Garage Sale

Well, here I am ready to post another picture.  I have been preparing for a garage sale all day, and the weather is so humid, you just drip with sweat after fifteen minutes.  Gross, huh!  I found time to make another one of the blocks I have fallen in love with.  The Great Granny Along block.  Don't know why I like it so much, but I made two of the small boards that I saw the tutorial for on http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/.  Love that website.  It's just like my childhood, even the pictures could be my relatives.  Well, I better get back to posting the picture:

Isn't that a sweet block?  I like it, I'm going to have a pretty quilt one of these days.  Well, I better go, got lots to do before bedtime.  Take care!

Week 6 Pattern Toby

Here is the block for this week.  It is called Toby after my favorite dog.  I got a block finished with this pattern but because I didn't mirror image the pattern he is facing another direction:

I worked on my ladybug blocks, got six made:

I found the neatest pattern book, it is called Dolly Days by Brandywine Designs.  I found it on Amazon.  I made a test block of the paperdoll just to see how it looked:

Well back again!  It took me two days to get my block done.  I will be posting it now.  Hope you will enjoy making it.  I know I did.  I love ladybugs.  I am also going to post a tutorial I made on how I prepare the ladybug for a block.  Here goes the design first:
Here is your pattern, week 5:

I hope you enjoy making this block.  I am going to tie all these files together, I promise!

Block 4 Kitty Cat

I worked on the kitty cat block and was able to make the kitties look a lot better:  I used a gray batik and I like the way his block came out:

The yellow kitty looks better too:

I embroidered some of the features on the ladybug block and it is looking better also:

I will be back later with more, just had to get this new block posted as promised on the day I promised!

Pattern #3 Boot Scoot Dancers

As promised Pattern of the Week, Boot Scoot Dancers:

I am so proud of them.  I love Sue and Sam and this is so cute to me!  They are dancing
to the Boot Scoot Boogie.

Sam has 10 pieces in his pattern and Sue has eight.  Here is your pattern:

I hope you will enjoy this, I enjoyed making it.

Well, I will be back with more stuff, next week.  I think I will change my upload day to Monday.  That way hopefully all will be done and on the site.  I really don't know why I picked Wednesday,  I guess that's because it occurred to me to do this on a Wednesday.  It never has worked out to do that after the first time.

Ta Ta!

Late posting Pattern of the week

I am so sorry, I had the pattern laying on a chair in the sewing room and it has been misplaced.  Hope to find it today and get it online.  It is the bootscoot Sue and Sam.  Bear with me.

Block 2 a simple Bird

Well, here I am back again.  I have wanted to get this blog up and running again and thanks to my husband's computer we have something to work with.

This is the pattern for you for week two.  It is simple and it makes such a cute block.  Here is my block example:

I think this will make a cute quilt if you add some flowers, maybe a tree, etc.

Now I want to show you the simple nine-patch from the ladybug project:

Now that I am back on schedule and a little ahead of you I have this week's pattern:

Also I finished the block for this kitty today:

I'm a little unhappy that the eyes did not come out as planned, but the next block I do will be better.
The point is I am learning from my mistakes.

I hope this blog will be helpful to any beginners out there.  The sky is the limit, anyone can draw and make their own patterns.  Some will be a lot better than others.  I hope to offer encouragement and a sense of accomplishment to the new sewer or quilter.

Will be back with you next time I feel so glad I am caught up!

Due to a lot of thunderstorm activity I have not had a computer to use for the past few days.  We managed to get the dinasaur up and running so I have this way to communicate.  I didn't even get to do the blog yet for the new block.  We had no electricity either!  Anyway all is well and I am going to do the blog shortly,  Stay tuned for more details!

May 2, 2012

I have been working on a new project today.  I have decided to design and give away those designs for free.  I will post them once a week and that day will be Wednesday.  I have been working with my new accuquilt machine.  I cut out apple cores today.  I had a great time and have a stack to start a new quilt with and I have 126 cut ready to start sewing.  Don't know how long it will take to sew them but I am sure it will take longer to piece than it took to cut.  Love that "Go".

My first free design is a ladybug.  I scanned it today and my scanner must have eaten it!  I can't find it anywhere and that means I have to do it over.  I am just so excited to get this ladybug posted.

Lots of computer work and sewing coming up so I will sign off for today.  Wish me luck as I start down this new road. LOL

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Well, Happy St. Patty's day to you.   I have had a good day, I was working on a big project with the group I am on.  It is called the Boomerang 7 Water Group.  I prepared 38 Fat Eighths and mailed them out today.  Nothing went right, but I am new to this and I will know better how to manage this next time around.   When I got back I had received 3 of the fabrics from which I will make 3 blocks and return to senders.  It is a pretty fast project and now I am beginning to search for blocks to make for them.  My fabric was what I sent out this a.m.  I believe I will go traditional unless I don't get patterns that shout out to me.  The people who got my fabric will make blocks for me so it will be great fun all the way thru.  Julianne I saw the bowl and pitcher block you did and I love it.  Can you send me an url for that?
I love it, I collect them.  I will make pictures of mine to show you.  The real things.  Not pictures.
Well pictures will come later so I better get to making those blocks.

Birthday

Not much going on today. Hubby took me to my favorite out of town place. No quilting done today or tomorrow, then back to normal. It has been such a great day, I am going to have a hard time getting back to normal again. Thank goodness I only have one birthday a year, I would be so spoiled it would be a shame. LOL

Craftsy Block of the Month

These are my January Craftsy Blocks of the Month. This is a neat, free tutorial on their website. I really enjoy the tutorials!

This block is called Wonky Pound Sign.>

I recommend this Block of the Month to anyone wanting one. You get two blocks per month and it has the free tutorial to tell you step by step. I figure I'm never too old to learn new things so that is why I use this site. All you have to do is sign up for it on www.Craftsy.com and the teacher is Amy Gibson.

I forgot about the camera on my phone!

The block on the left is called Friend's Star. It is from Marcia Hohn's Quilterscache! I think it is beautiful. This is the February Block of the Month for Julianne's Guild. I am quilting along with her.

The block on the right is called Prairie Queen Block and it the March Block of the Month for Julianne's guild.

The House block on the far left is called a Community Block and it is the January Block of the Month for Julianne's guild. I am completely in love with this block!

Darn Camera

I have gotten most of my bom's done. I wanted to post my photos of them so everyone could see and my camera won't upload the pictures. I may have to buy a camera just to get my photos to be viewable on my site. I finished the three blocks from Julianne, and 2 of my blocks from Craftsy. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to get them uploaded!
